Another “The definition” Review…
Here’s what another one of our close friends had to say about our upcoming record…
“The Evolution of Heavy Alternative
From the first to the last note, Dimtribe’s full length debut, “The Definition”, carries a punch that surely won’t leave one disappointed. I’ve had the pleasure of being a part of the Dimtribe experience for 10 years now, and what has evolved, is an album so modern and fresh, yet un-characterizable by genre. If you know Dimtribe, don’t worry, the heavy is still there, the groove is still there, and so is the melody. But Richard has completely taken his song writing to a new self-defying level… and it needs to be heard.
From the moment you listen to “The Definition”, one of the first things you’ll notice is the solid production. The tones, bass, drums, & vocals all came out incredible. You can bump this shit, Chris Collier & Richard Nguyen should be proud of their work. The album’s opening track, “Myself”, is a perfect intro… if the riff doesn’t have you 10 seconds in, I really don’t know what to say. When I try to think of a similar opening riff that carries such awesome weight, Deftones “My Own Summer” comes to mind… But Dimtribe bring a different kind of groove to the table than their peers. The third track, “Set Aside” is something I could easily hear on heavy rock rotation. Richard’s lyrics on this song can truly speak for anyone who has found diversity fighting for their dreams… A true crowd pleaser. MY personal favorite track, “Be There”, Is a brutal, “fuck you, feel the pain you caused inside of me”, anthem filled with great lines of dissent…. THIS ISN’T RIGHT!!!! screams Richard as the track winds down in chaos.
Overall, the flow of the album is great. I listened through at least 7 times in the first couple of days, and every time I listened, I like it more and discovered something new. Besides the incredible job these three musicians did, there’s certain humanity to Dimtribe, which along with their ability to transcend genres, gives them a unique opportunity to reach many different kinds of people. Don’t miss out on the revolution.”

Formed in October of 2010, dimtribe is made up of Richard Nguyen, Robert
Emmons and Chris Collier. Dimtribe is a Heavy Alternative rock band from
Santa Clarita, CA.
In the winter of 2009 Richard Nguyen set out to write a record that would
serve as a pet project to be done at his own leisure. This project was
dubbed “The Definition”. After finishing an album’s worth of material, he
enlisted in studio players for the effort. When the first iteration of studio
players chosen for the project didn’t pan out. Richard reached out to an old friend
for help behind the drum kit; Chris Collier. After Chris came into the fold the
band started to take shape. Chris reached out to Robert Emmons to come
in and play bass. The first practice ignited a spark within each of them and
dimtribe became a full-fledge performing band in the fall of 2010. The trio put
together 6 songs in a week and recorded an EP 2 weeks later.
Musically, dimtribe creates a wall of sound with moody guitars, huge grooves
and propulsive rhythms, while emotional lyrics and melodies neatly layer
on top of it all. The band’s influences range from Metallica, Pantera, Korn,
Meshuggah, Deftones and Incubus to STP, As I lay dying and even Coldplay.
After a year and a half, dimtribe has been steadily building momentum
as one of the Santa Clarita’s most promising acts. Richard, Robert and
Chris seem to feed off one another's energy on stage. The live aspect of
dimtribe is where the magic happens. Their fierce energy and professionalism
constantly win over crowd after crowd. When they want your attention they
will get it.
The group’s first full length record, “The Definition” was
released on March 30, 2012.
